@Dark Stalion
Erm, Nooo... Sea Turtles were at last minute thought Laughing

@everyone
Hmmm, maybe were approached this from the wrong way.

What might be needed is to group families of animals and then create a tree that allow us to work out a basic froms.

I know something like this has been mention already, but if were going real basic, then this might be needed

Maybe a mindmap would do? There are several online tools, like http://www.bubbl.us/ but you need to register to save your work. Maybe there is a free package that one can install on private webspace. That would be a good way to build an animal tree. I'll do a search for such a package... or maybe one of the readers already know about one?

Didn't... 8-bit, make a relationship chart between the races, as far as fantasy-genetics go?

Sorry, too much PotC lately. Watched the third one twice in two days. (damn it, why didn't I watch it thrice in three. that would have been much better)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal#Groups_of_animals <--- this might be a good resource

maybe we should do one or two for each genum or philum or something?

And maybe we shouldnt use real animals? Maybe ones we make up that are similar to real animals but without the advantages theyve atained through evolution

I think I'm going to re-do the list, with things similar to the "Decapede" - generic versions of real animals.

I think that's probably a good idea.

Waterbound - Seahorse ^_^

I think I'll unrust my drawing hand with some sketches of aforementioned beasts. Well, after I go buy a new suitcase and guitar case.

It another question of balance, again.

Don't simply dumd down creatures too much, instead to a more logical aproach. Look at the main character of a creature, what make it such, and what can be seen as extra.

Not all snakes are poisonous, just like all spiders can spin a web.
